This week

Tuesday
Big johns class
well i guess i finished the alloa tower project video i edited a few bits and bobs and finished it then i rendered/saved into a movie file and put it in the shared folder along with the adam eased in which i also finished and also a slide show that eta made.
then adam put them all onto idvd and fixed it all together and it looked pretty awsome along with our animation from our last project.
Then in angies class she wanted us to draw more things using different styles of drawing so i started to draw my shoe with charcoal then with chalk and other things which i cant remember the name of but it looked pretty good and yet again angie said i done a good job and that i should of joined art next year..but im more of an editing type of person i love to animate aswell along with making effects and sounds i can pass days easily just editing my own projects at home.

Wednesday
In gavins class we were watching a documentary for our nab we had to do with him about rice farmers in africa..i guess i didnt understand it well but i tried my best on it i was too busy editing the last few weeks when gavin was telling us what it was about but hopefully i passed

Then i showed gavin our finished video of "The adam easedin show" which he was impressed with the editing and work. also i wanted to show gavin one of my best edited work ive made at home which is on youtube called "Attack of the meme smiley's" which is basically a dirty humor/comedy with animation and effects i spent 6 full working days on editing, gavin was fully impressed with the editing and lightsaber animation and other people in the class were also impressed :)

Friday

25/5/10 to 28/5/10

Tuesday
Big johns class again i guess their isnt very much to say since i was just editing the alloa tower project again like last week i still had to add etas clips and images in and to trimmed more bits off and fix the audio sync because when i added etas clips in it doesnt push the audio along because they arent grouped but it was no big deal it was simple.

Angies class
she wanted us to draw more things just to learn of be more creative with shading and such which i find hard to do i dunno why but its just not my strong point i was drawing things around the class room which was alright and angie said i done a good job but im a negative person and i didnt think it was great

Wednesday
in gavins class i was still editing the adam easdin show video sorting it out and i had to add titles which made the sound effects out of sync which annoyed me but i left them and started editing the rest i didnt know how to put them back in sync but i was waiting till friday to ask brian since hes the wizkid of the mac.

Friday
Brians class i was just editing all the clips together again on the alloa tower project i fixed all the audio and clips together and i added some titles more transitions and many other things i was nearly finished which it did look pretty good and smooth well atleast my opinion thinks soo.

18/5/10 tp 21/5/10

Tuesday

Starting with big johns class
i was editing all the alloa tower clips together bit by bit waiting and collecting more videos and images from other class mates to edit their pictures and videos all into the big project it wasnt hard or anything although would of been helpful on a more professional program.

Then in angies class
Angie wanted us to try somthing new again soo she took us to the garden at the back of the college and told us to draw anything in that area using chalk charcoal and other things soo i drew these bunch of bricks which was annoying because there was soo many of them but angie says my drawing was great but i beg to differ.

Wednesday
In Gavins class i was still editing the adam easdin show which wasnt hard it was too easy i was just simply adding clips together cutting from top and tail and sorting the sync of the two camera angles i enjoy editing allot soo i stayed logged in to keep editing and finish as much as i could.

Friday
same as monday editing the alloa tower project all together and getting music for the background which was pretty cool john gave me some he recorded and i guess it fitted in well but i was still waiting to edit etas clips because she lost hers so she had to make her own again from footage and putting audio over the top of it
but i was nearly finished.

Then in angies class again she took us out to the garden again for more drawing which was roasting that day but was good and i was drawing more things which was hard because of the angles i was at.

f5br11 art and design: digital video skills

What research did you do?

I researched alloa tower into 2 search engines, Google and Yahoo
I searched for many images of alloa tower just to see what it looks like and details and surroundings of the area
Some textures and angles i needed to know to take pictures of for angies art class and also for the alloa tower project
also done research on video/documentary makers how they film and what they do as their job

I looked up some info on the alloa tower its history and to its present day.

Links to places on the internet about documentary makers that you found helpful.

Give 3 examples of display and/or storage methods for Digital Video.

Displaying a video/film on a projector
Storing pictures/files in the network drive that can connect to any computer (for sharing purposes)
displaying on mobile phones and ipads
Displaying video/film and any other things on t.v's or pc monitors.
storage in ipads computers or even flash usb drives
Describe the process for creation and use of digital video sequences by three artist/designers.

Charles Atlas is a video artist and film director who also does lighting and set design.

He is a pioneer in developing media-dance, also called dance for camera. Media dance is work that is created directly for the camera. While Atlas’ primary artistic medium is video, he also began to experiment with live electronic performance in 2003.

Colin cambell

Campbell's work has been exhibited internationally since the mid-1970s, including the 1980 Venice Biennale. In 1990 the Winnipeg Art Gallery organized a national touring retrospective of his videotapes (1972–90). His first film, Skin, premiered at the Festival of Festivals (Toronto International Film Festival) in 1991.

Shaun Wilson (born Melbourne, 1972) is an Australian artist and film maker.

Since 2004 he has produced over 350 video artworks under the titles ofMnemoria series, The Memory Palace series, Filmic Memorials series I-IV and Uber Memoria I-VII/Proto. These particular works that Wilson himself describes as ‘video paintings’ explore the nature of memory and place through the moving image and its subsequent effect on autobiographical memory. In doing so, Wilson has deconstructed family home movies, vintage 8mm film, and found 9mm film and from late 2006 onwards he has incorporated these filmic images with High Definition Video (HDV) to convey tensions of fractured memory.

Sadie Benning (born April 11, 1973) is a video maker, visual artist, andmusician.

She first made her name in the early 1990s as a teenage video maker from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her earliest works, made from the time she was 15, were shot with the Fisher-Price Pixelvision camera, which recorded pixelated, black and white video images onto standard audio cassettes. The Fischer-Price PXL-2000 camera used in her early works that brought her to the spotlight was a Christmas gift from her father, experimental filmmaker James Benning. At first Sadie was standoffish to the PixelVision camera. "I thought, 'This is a piece of shit. It's black-and-white. It's for kids. He'd told me I was getting this surprise. I was expecting a camcorder." The majority of her shorts combined performance, experimental narrative, handwriting, and cut-up music to explore, among other subjects, gender and sexuality.

The process that we followed to produce our film is as follows...
  • Research on Alloa Tower and watching documentaries on TV to see how it is done
  • Story-boarding angles areas and scripting
  • Getting permissions and ready to go film
  • Editing the video clips adding music and sorting out titles
  • Making the final video into a quicktime movie and putting on a DVD

14/05/2010 Brians and angies class (problems day)

Well today in brians class i had to edit the video clips from our alloa tower project.
wasnt too hard but their are soo many clips to edit and its a pain to edit in imovie since it takes forever to load up all the video clips.
i had a few problems while editing it kept crashing/freezing on me then i had to get brian the wizz kid to fix the problem with imove because it kept saying that it cant find the files soo then he used a geeky way to find it all again using old saved reference files i think? not really sure but he then put it on the computer because it was on an external harddrive which was the problem..

Then in angies class i done some more sewing on another picture of the alloa tower but i kept having problems with the machine it kept getting jammed and all that but i did learn how to set up a sewing machine properly and ive still got to finish that piece of work
then later on in that class brian took a good quality picture of me on the sewing machine which looked great in quality i was impressed and he asked me for permission to put on his site and gave me his card with his links of pictures which i did have a look at later on the day.

12/05/2010 Gavins class

Today in gavins class i started editing the video clips of the small tv show we were making while everyone else were looking for sounds and soundFX and many other things.
It was pretty funny watching the video clips being put together but to be honest id rather edit on a more professional program such as final cut pro or sony vegas pro 9 instead of imovie
its just to basic and simple for me and professional programs i find much easier to edit since its got allot of shortcuts and ways to do things but after all im finding it no problem editing on imovie but i still have to edit the rest of the video.

11/05/2010 Tuesday Going to Alloa tower

Starting with big johns class i walked down to alloa tower with some people from class and met big john and laura outside alloa tower and then we got all the gear ready such as cameras and tripod and went into the tower and got a tutorial around the tower and the history of the tower...

Then later on i started filming in one room about the roofs and the rebuilding of the alloa tower
i done many pan camera shots and angles it looks nice especially with the quality of the camera i was using.
here are some pictures of us at the alloa tower

Then i walked back to college and uploaded all the clips from tape onto the mac .

After all that i went to angies class and she wanted us to try something different than mono-prints, she wanted us to sew the textures and lines of alloa tower pictures on to some cloth/sheets using a sewing machine and it worked out pretty well :)
